5G Auction Completed: Key Winners Announced

The licensing auction for the establishment and operation of 5G mobile electronic communication infrastructures was held, with Turkcell, Türk Telekom (TTMobil), and Vodafone competing. The results of the auction represent a significant development for the communication sector.

Turkcell Maintains Its Leadership

In the 5G auction, the A1 700 MHz license was won by Turkcell for 429 million dollars. Other significant results are as follows:

• A2 700 MHz frequency license: Vodafone - 426 million dollars
• A3 700 MHz frequency license: Türk Telekom - 425 million dollars

Auction Details: Two Bands and 11 Frequencies

The auction was conducted for a total of 11 frequencies in two different bands. The minimum value of the total 400 MHz frequency resource in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands was set at approximately 2 billion 125 million dollars excluding VAT.

Payment Terms and Delays

The total amount resulting from the auction will be paid by the winning bidders in 3 equal installments according to the procedures determined by the BTK. In case of delays in payments, an annual %7.93 late payment interest will be applied.

Future Plans

It is also noted that the current licenses will expire on April 30, 2029, and that a payment of %5 of gross sales will need to be made each year. The authorization period will continue until December 31, 2042. Additionally, it is planned to start providing services with new technology from the frequencies covered by the auction as of April 1, 2026.
