Wiz, a company operating in the cybersecurity field, announced that the acquisition process conducted by Google's parent company Alphabet has been approved by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport revealed this development at a Wall Street Journal event.
This deal, valued at approximately $32 billion, aims to be Alphabet's largest acquisition. With this agreement, Wiz will be integrated into Google's cloud unit, thereby strengthening the company's cybersecurity solutions. As a result, it is planned to help businesses mitigate critical risks.
Rappaport commented on the DOJ review of the deal, saying, "This is definitely an important milestone, but there is still a journey between signing and closing."
Last June, Bloomberg reported that DOJ antitrust officials were examining whether Alphabet's acquisition of Wiz would illegally restrict market competition. A Google spokesperson provided information via email, stating, "We look forward to completing the review process in other jurisdictions. The acquisition of Wiz is planned to close in 2026, but this is subject to traditional closing conditions."
DOJ and Wiz did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
