WeRide Launches Fully Autonomous Robotaxi Service in Abu Dhabi

WeRide (WRD) has obtained official permission to offer a fully autonomous commercial robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi, becoming the first international company to be authorized in this field in the United Arab Emirates. This permission means that WeRide's robotaxis can now operate without a safety driver in the vehicle.

Commercial Operations to Start via Uber and TXAI

WeRide's robotaxi services will commence commercial operations through the Uber and TXAI platforms. WeRide has been collaborating with TXAI since 2021, and as of December 2024, it has also opened up to the Uber platform. This will provide users with access to a wider service network.

Preparing to Serve Abu Dhabi's Main Areas

WeRide began offering services in almost half of Abu Dhabi's main areas, including key regions such as Al Reem and Al Maryah, by July of this year. By the end of 2025, WeRide aims to provide robotaxi services in a significant portion of the city centers. This will represent a revolutionary step in urban transportation.
