The Germany-based Volkswagen Group, which includes the brands Audi, Bugatti, Seat, Skoda, and Porsche, has announced vehicle delivery data for the third quarter of 2023 and the January-September period.
According to the statements made, the Volkswagen Group's global vehicle sales reached 6,524,400 units, representing a 1.2% increase compared to the same period last year during the January-September period of 2023. This increase was an important indicator of a revival in the automotive market.
The group's main brand, Volkswagen, saw vehicle sales increase by 2.8% to 3,492,500 units during this period. Notably, there was significant growth in electric vehicles. Electric vehicle sales reached 717,500 units, a 42% increase compared to the same period last year.
However, in China, the largest market for the Volkswagen Group, sales declined by 4%, falling to 1,974,000 units. The competition among electric vehicle suppliers led to price reductions and affected sales.
In the third quarter of 2023, the Volkswagen Group's vehicle sales increased by 1% compared to the same period last year, reaching 2,198,800 units. However, sales for the main brand Volkswagen were recorded at 1,172,200, a decrease of 0.4%. In the North American market, a 9.8% decrease was observed due to rising import tariffs.
As a result, the Volkswagen Group's third quarter performance shows an overall positive outlook despite challenges in some markets. The growth in electric vehicle sales is noted as a promising development for the group's future.
