The Germany-based Volkswagen Group has released vehicle delivery data for the third quarter of 2023 and the period from January to September, including its brands Audi, Bugatti, Seat, Skoda, and Porsche.
In the January-September period of 2023, the Volkswagen Group's global vehicle sales reached 6,524,400 units, showing an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year. Notably, the group's main brand Volkswagen achieved 3,492,500 vehicle sales with an increase of 2.8%.
During this period, Volkswagen's electric vehicle sales increased by 42%, rising to 717,500 units. This growth is seen as an important indicator of the automotive sector's transformation and the transition to green energy.
On the other hand, vehicle deliveries in China, Volkswagen's largest market, decreased by 4% to 1,974,000 units due to price competition with local electric vehicle manufacturers. In the third quarter, deliveries in China fell by 7.2%, recording 660,300 units.
Sales in the July-September period reached 2,198,800 units, marking a 1% increase compared to the same quarter last year, but Volkswagen's sales declined by 0.4% to 1,172,200. Additionally, in the North American market, sales decreased by 9.8% due to U.S. import tariffs.
