A New Model for Crypto Content Creation from Vitalik Buterin

In the world of cryptocurrency, incentive systems for content creators have been addressed and transformed into an innovative model by Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum. Buterin believes that the reason for the nearly 10-year history of unsuccessful attempts in the crypto world for content creators lies in targeting the wrong problem. He emphasizes that the real issue today is not content scarcity, but rather an excess of low-quality content.

In the 2000s, the biggest problem on the internet was insufficient content, while today, with the possibilities provided by artificial intelligence technology, nearly unlimited content can be produced. Buterin highlights that this situation requires a focus on curating and showcasing quality content rather than incentivizing content production.

Buterin cites the Substack platform as the most successful content creator incentive model to date. On Substack, paid writers are those who produce quality content and adhere to standards. This platform has achieved this success by structuring content creators to curate from the outset in an informed manner.

However, creator coin projects generally highlight individuals with high social status and push content quality to the background. The model proposed by Buterin considers creator DAOs that do not have tokens and have a limited membership system. These DAOs should focus on a specific type of content and style and adopt a biased approach.

Tokens play an indirect role in this selection process. While anyone can issue a creator coin, only accepted creators use a portion of the DAO's revenue to burn their own coins. Thus, speculators serve as a filter in predicting which creators will be accepted into these elite DAOs. According to Buterin, the arbiters of true content quality should be the creators who can produce good content.
