The founder of the US-based X company, Elon Musk, made a statement on his social media platform account, quoting from X's Global Government Relations account, stating, "This is a political attack".
In a statement by Global Government Relations, it was noted that French judicial authorities conducted a raid at X's office in Paris within the framework of allegations of manipulation of algorithms and obtaining fake data.
It was expressed that the Paris Prosecutor's Office suggested that the investigation was attempting to pressure X's top management in the US by targeting the company's offices and employees in France.
In the statement, it was also stated that "The claims underlying the pressure are baseless", emphasizing that X categorically denied having made any wrongdoing. X argued that such pressure affects freedom of expression.
Additionally, the statement mentioned, "The fabricated raid distorts French laws and obstructs the judicial process". It was indicated that this situation strengthens our belief that freedom of expression is at risk.
The Paris Prosecutor's Office instructed the gendarmerie to conduct searches at X company’s offices in France. The searches were carried out as part of an investigation that started in January 2025.
According to a report by the French newspaper Le Monde, the searches took place at X company's offices in the capital Paris. Furthermore, the Paris Prosecutor's Office had summoned Linda Yaccarino and Elon Musk to testify in Paris on April 20.
