Ümit Önal's Appointment Featured in the Official Gazette

Today, the appointment decisions published in the Official Gazette brought important changes in various public institutions in Turkey to the agenda. According to the decisions announced with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Article 2 and 3 of Presidential Decree No. 3 provides for the appointment of Ümit Önal as the Head of the Cybersecurity Presidency. Additionally, Muhammed Hüseyin Karabul was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the State Archives Presidency, and Davut Öksüz was appointed as the Auditor of the Court of Accounts.

Who is Ümit Önal?

Ümit Önal is a graduate of the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul University and has held significant roles in the media and communication sector for over 20 years. He joined Turkuvaz Media Group in 2007 and took on critical roles such as General Manager of ATV, Advertising Group Presidency, and Membership in the Executive Committee. In 2015, he was appointed to the positions of General Manager and Board Member at Digitürk, successfully managing the company's sale process to BeIN Media Group.

His Role at Türk Telekom

In 2016, Önal joined the Türk Telekom family and was appointed as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Sales and Customer Services. He was promoted to the position of Deputy General Manager responsible for Marketing and Customer Services in 2018. In August 2019, he continued his duties as the CEO of Türk Telekom. During this period, he led Turkey's digital and technological transformation processes and contributed to significant changes in the sector.

National and International Roles

Throughout his career, Önal has held active roles in various national and international associations. He served as the Chairman of the Board of the Mobile Telecommunications Operators Association (m-TOD) in 2020 and 2022, and is currently a member of the International Investors Association (YASED) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) U.S. Business Council. Since March 2022, Ümit Önal has been serving as a Board Member of Türk Telekom, one of Turkey's leading communication and technology companies.
