Uber is revamping the travel experience in Barbados.

Barbados, October 30, 2025 – Guests can now explore the island of Barbados more easily with the Uber app. Uber has officially launched its services on the island, marking its first launch in the Eastern Caribbean. With this new app, visitors can request the Uber Taxi service with just a few clicks, connecting them with licensed taxi drivers on the island.

Uber Taxi focuses on local taxi drivers, providing them with greater access to passengers while preserving the authentic hospitality that defines Barbados's tourism industry.

Belén Romero, Regional General Manager for the Andean, Central America, and Caribbean regions, stated, "When people travel, they want to feel comfortable exploring new places. With the Uber app, visitors can experience Barbados while supporting local taxi drivers that make the experience truly unique, aligned with the safety standards they are used to at home."

The arrival of Uber for tourists offers a reliable experience they are already familiar with in various cities around the world. Through the app, users can see driver information, estimated fares, and routes in real time; all of these processes take place in a familiar, transparent, and cashless environment.

Uber Taxi has proven successful in popular tourist destinations. Since 2022, more than 115,000 rides have been completed in the Dominican Republic through the Uber Select option that connects users with licensed taxi drivers, over 31,000 of which have been services such as round trips to Punta Cana International Airport. In France, over 3,000 taxis are active on the platform, while in the United States, Uber Taxi operates in cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Washington D.C..

In Barbados, the app also offers the Uber Reservation option, allowing passengers to plan ahead and schedule rides up to 90 days in advance. This feature is ideal for airport transfers or day trips around the island. Additionally, the Uber Hourly service allows users to reserve a taxi driver by the hour, make multiple stops, and explore Barbados at their own pace. Barbados is the first country in the Caribbean to have the Uber Hourly service, and the only one specifically designed for tourism in Latin America.

The Uber app offers over 30 safety features for both users and drivers before, during, and after each ride. Features such as real-time trip sharing, PIN verification, and audio recording options require every taxi driver to complete a verification process and provide valid documents.
