Turkey aims to enhance energy supply security with the liquefied natural gas (LNG) procurement agreement signed between BOTAŞ and the Woodside energy company. Announced in September, this agreement has now come into effect with the latest official notification.
In this context, it has been stated that a total of 5.8 billion cubic meters of LNG will be supplied to BOTAŞ. The duration of the agreement has been set to nine years, which is considered a critical step in Turkey's efforts to diversify its energy supply.
It has been announced that the LNG to be supplied will be sourced from an LNG facility in the state of Louisiana, USA, which is currently under construction. With this agreement, Turkey will take a significant step towards efficiently meeting its energy needs and reducing its dependency on foreign sources.
Experts predict that such agreements will strengthen Turkey's position in the energy market and positively impact market dynamics. Turkey is determined to turn to alternative sources to meet its increasing energy demand and to develop strategic partnerships.
