


At the 18th Verona Eurasia Economy Forum held in Istanbul, Minister Ersoy evaluated Turkey's successful performance in the tourism sector, announcing that the country aims to host 62.3 million visitors starting from 2024 and expects to generate 61.1 billion dollars in tourism revenue. Minister Ersoy emphasized that these figures break new records every year, strengthening Turkey's position in the global tourism arena.
Stating that one of the biggest steps in developing tourism was the establishment of the Turkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) in 2019, Ersoy mentioned that the agency plays a crucial role in line with the Ministry’s strategies. He expressed that TGA is a critical actor in achieving Turkey’s tourism goals and is involved in innovative projects supporting the growth of tourism.
Minister Ersoy explained that, as part of efforts to maintain Turkey's competitive position internationally, they implemented the Safe Tourism Certificate and Sustainable Tourism Document practices. He stated that these certificates aim to elevate the standards of tourism facilities in the country and increase international tourists' trust in Turkey.
Emphasizing the importance of sustainable tourism policies in achieving balance from environmental, economic, and social perspectives, Ersoy projected that future efforts in these areas would enable Turkey to attract more tourists and increase revenue from tourism. In this context, he also mentioned that steps have been taken to strengthen strategic promotional campaigns and collaboration with the sector.
In conclusion, Minister Ersoy highlighted that the success of Turkey in tourism is backed by sustainability and strong promotional strategies, stating that efforts in these areas will be accelerated in the upcoming period. Understanding the dynamics in the tourism sector and developing strategies suitable for these dynamics will further solidify Turkey's position in the international market.
