


The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced the household domestic tourism Q2 data for the year 2025. According to the data, during this period covering the months of April, May, and June, 13 million 938 thousand domestic tourists traveled. The total number of trips decreased by 13.9 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 17 million 76 thousand.
During this quarter, travelers made a total of 99 million 214 thousand overnight stays. The average number of overnight stays was recorded as 5.8 nights, the lowest figure observed since the Q2 of 2014.
Domestic tourists' travel expenditures within the country in Q2 of 2025 increased by 13.4 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 116 billion 933 million 487 thousand TL. Of these expenditures, 85.2 percent was personal spending (99 billion 655 million 181 thousand TL), while 14.8 percent was spent on package tours (17 billion 278 million 306 thousand TL). The average expenditure per trip was 6 thousand 848 TL.
Among expenditure types, food and beverage expenditures took the largest share with 30.1 percent, followed by transportation with 25.8 percent and accommodation with 15.7 percent. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 3.1 percent in food and beverage expenses, 7.1 percent in transportation expenses, and 26.2 percent in accommodation expenses.
Among travel purposes, "travel, entertainment, vacation" ranked second with 32.2 percent, while "health" was in third place with 3 percent. Travelers predominantly stayed with "friends or relatives" for 68 million 739 thousand overnight stays. Among other accommodation types, "own home" came in second with 13 million 886 thousand overnight stays, while hotels ranked third with 9 million 727 thousand overnight stays.
