Notable Decline in the Home Appliance Sector

In Turkey, home appliance sales continue to show a decline in the January-September period of 2023. According to TÜRKBESD data, there was a 6% decrease in domestic sales in 6 main product groups compared to the previous year during the first 9 months. The total sales volume was determined to be 22.22 million.

Ongoing Decline in Exports

In the export sector, the declining trend that has persisted for 3 years continues to be evident this year as well, with an 8% decrease compared to the previous year. The production quantity of home appliances has also decreased by 9% compared to the same period last year, resulting in a 7% decline in total sales.

September Data and Sector Vulnerability

Looking at the September data, a limited increase (4%) in domestic sales compared to the previous year has been observed, yet a 12% decrease in exports, a 6% drop in production, and an 8% decline in total sales clearly reveal the ongoing vulnerability of the sector. In September, total sales amounted to 2.6 million units.
