Turkey's Jewelry Exports: 6.7 Billion Dollars in 10 Months

In the global economic environment, as the demand for luxury consumer goods increases, Turkey's jewelry sector has also made a significant leap. According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), jewelry exports reached 6.7 billion dollars in the January-October period of 2023. This figure, which has shown continuous growth over the last five years, strengthens Turkey's global role in the jewelry market.

Developments in Exports Over the Last Five Years

In 2022, jewelry exports were realized at 4.7 billion dollars, while in 2023, this figure reached 5.7 billion dollars. In 2021, the figures were 4.6 billion dollars, and in 2020, 3.2 billion dollars. The jewelry exports in 2019 and 2018 were 3.4 billion dollars and 3.9 billion dollars, respectively, indicating a continuous growth trend in the sector.

Highlighted Export Markets

In October, Turkey's share of total jewelry exports was %3.5, while Turkey's total exports in the January-October period were recorded at 224.6 billion dollars, with a year-on-year increase of %3.9. The largest market for jewelry exports, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), made purchases worth 2.4 billion dollars. The UAE is followed by Hong Kong (496.3 million dollars), Switzerland (409.4 million dollars), USA (367.7 million dollars), and Libya (335.2 million dollars).

Istanbul Holds a Leading Position in Exports

In the evaluation by province, a significant portion of jewelry exports occurred through Istanbul, recorded at 4.7 billion dollars. Other provinces were ranked as follows: Çorum (1.8 billion dollars), Kastamonu (125.7 million dollars), Ankara (39.7 million dollars), and Trabzon (30.5 million dollars). This data reveals that Turkey's jewelry sector has strengthened its capacity to meet global market demand.
