Turkey's Export Demand Index Experienced Historic Decline

BIST News
TİM's August 2025 Export Market Monitor Report announced that the Export Demand Index has fallen to a historic low. Details about related economic indicators and the Market Resilience Index.

Striking Data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly

The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), published its Export Market Monitor Report for the August 2025 period. This report, which has been closely watched for a long time, reveals the developments in the export market since January 2024.

Export Demand Index Recorded a Record Drop

Accordingly, the Export Demand Index decreased by 1.7% on a monthly basis, falling to 98.5; this is the lowest level seen since the report began to be published. On an annual basis, the index recorded its sharpest decline with a 1.5% drop.

Negative Trend in Economic Indicators

TİM's report emphasized that despite partial improvements in inflation in August, declines in indicators such as unemployment, consumer confidence, business confidence, and industrial production pulled the demand index below its long-term average.

Change in Market Resilience Index

The Market Resilience Index, on the other hand, increased by 0.8% on an annual basis, rising to 100.3, while showing a 0.8% decrease on a monthly basis. The partial increase in global geopolitical risks and the Export Demand Index falling below its long-term average negatively affected the resilience of export markets.
