Turkish ports achieved great success in the period from January to September 2023, reaching a total of 47,630 ships. This figure represents the highest level in the last seven years.

The maritime sector has started to revive in the post-Covid-19 pandemic period, and Turkish ports have become a concrete sign of this improvement. After many years of restrictions and economic uncertainties, the movement of maritime trade is increasing.

This increase in ship traffic signifies the resurgence of not only Turkish ports but also international maritime trade. The ports are becoming important centers for both cargo transportation and passenger ships, and Turkey's strategic geographical location reinforces this situation.

Data from the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs indicates that the trend of increasing ship arrivals at ports is continuing steadily. The year 2023 seems likely to be recorded as a historical period for Turkish ports.

In particular, the commercial activity in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions is increasing the operational intensity of the ports. This situation means more commercial opportunities and investments, while also raising expectations in the sector.

Moreover, Turkey's relationships with its trade partners further increase its reliance on maritime transport. The modernization of the country’s ports and infrastructure development projects continue to ensure the sustainability of this growth. These improvements in the ports make them more attractive for both domestic and foreign investors.
