


The Turkish Confederation of Labor (Türk-İş) announced the results of its January 2026 survey, which it regularly conducts every month to analyze the living conditions of workers and examine price changes in basic necessities.
According to the research, the monthly food expenditure (hunger threshold) for a family of four has risen to 31,224 TL.
Along with the food expenditure at the poverty line, the total amount for other mandatory monthly expenses for clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health, etc., was determined to be 101,706 TL.
The monthly living cost for a single worker is 40,541 TL. Food inflation in January was calculated as 3.58 percent month-on-month, 41.08 percent year-on-year, and an annual average of 39.79 percent.
The statement emphasized that the gap between minimum wage and living costs is increasingly deepening.
