US President Donald Trump announced an important tariff on medium and heavy-duty trucks exported to the United States (US) through a post on his Truth Social account.
When Will the Customs Tax Take Effect?
Trump stated, "Starting from November 1, a 25 percent customs tax will be applied to all medium and heavy-duty trucks coming to the US from other countries."
Previous Statements and Changes
It is recalled that in the initial announcement made on September 25, this tariff was announced to take effect on October 1. Trump had said, "In order to protect our big truck manufacturers from unfair foreign competition, I had planned to implement a 25 percent customs tax on all 'heavy (large) trucks' produced worldwide starting from October 1."
