U.S. President Donald Trump held a meeting with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani aboard Air Force One. Following this meeting, Trump made significant remarks regarding the steps being taken for lasting peace in the Gaza region.
Trump announced that progress has been made in efforts to establish stability in Gaza and that the deployment of an international force to the region is expected to happen soon. In his statement, he said, "This must be a lasting peace."
Trump noted that Qatar is ready to send peacekeeping troops if necessary and described the country as a key ally in the region's stability. This reinforces Qatar's role in international peace efforts.
Trump also emphasized that when discussing the Russia-Ukraine war, he would only meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin if he believes that a peace agreement is possible. He stated, "I need to be sure we can make a deal; I can't waste my time."
