The Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of Turkey has decided to halt chicken exports due to unjustified price increases of up to 15% observed in chicken prices ahead of the upcoming month of Ramadan. This measure was stated to be taken in order to meet the food needs of the public and to ensure market stability.
This implementation by the Ministry is a move aimed at protecting both chicken producers and consumers. The Ramadan period is a time when food consumption increases, so it was emphasized that measures need to be taken to prevent price speculation.
The impact of unjust price increases that place citizens in difficult situations played a significant role in the decision to take this step. In order for consumers to access healthy and reasonably priced food products, the Ministry of Commerce announced that price inspections would be increased.
