TCMB September Inflation Report: Rising Trends Draw Attention

Daily Report
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's September inflation report reveals that price increases have risen and food prices have had a significant impact. Annual inflation has increased to 33.29%.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) published the September Price Developments Report, providing important data on inflation trends. According to the data in the report, consumer prices increased by 3.23 percent in September. As a result, the annual inflation rate rose by 0.34 percentage points, reaching 33.29 percent. This situation indicates that inflationary pressures continue to persist rapidly.

When evaluated on a monthly basis, it is evident that the price increases in the food and services groups have prominently stood out. Food prices continue to follow a negative trend due to supply-side factors such as agricultural frost and drought. Therefore, significant increases have been observed in both unprocessed and processed food prices during this period. This rise in food prices has the potential to create a significant financial burden for consumers.

Additionally, within the core goods category, clothing and footwear are also coming to the forefront with the transition to the new season. In addition to the observed price increases in this group, the impact of durable consumer goods is also being felt. These price increases, which could negatively affect consumers' shopping habits during this period, may seriously threaten economic stability.

The CBRT's report emphasizes that the rise in inflation should be closely monitored. Especially, tracking the trajectory of food prices holds critical importance in determining future economic policies. Considering the effects of natural disasters such as drought, as well as market dynamics, could contribute to the development of effective strategies in the fight against inflation.
