AI leader OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that the weekly active user count of the company's popular language model ChatGPT has reached 800 million. This significant news came up during Altman's opening speech at the company's Dev Day event. It was also noted that new application development tools for ChatGPT were introduced during the presentation.
Altman stated, “The weekly active user count of ChatGPT has been recorded at 800 million. This figure indicates an increasing adoption rate among consumers, developers, businesses, and governments.”
OpenAI had reported a user count of 700 million in August; this figure was recorded as 500 million at the end of March.
Altman also mentioned, “As of today, 4 million developers are working to develop applications with OpenAI. We process more than 6 billion tokens per minute through our API,” he said. This situation will provide users with easier access to interactive and personalized next-generation applications.
ChatGPT, launched in November 2022, quickly gained a large user base and became one of the fastest-growing online services. The company recently executed a private equity sale worth 6.6 billion dollars, elevating its total valuation to 500 billion dollars, making it the world's most valuable private company.
This week, OpenAI also introduced a new version of the video creation tool called Sora and launched several new products alongside the social media network. Recently, it took a step to initiate a new platform for intermediary trading in partnership with Stripe.
