With the acquisition of 51% of the shares of Steag Power GmbH, based in Germany, OYAK has established full control over İSKEN Energy, which alone provides about 3% of Turkey's total electricity production.
OYAK General Manager Murat Yalçıntaş stated that they see energy security not only as an investment area but also as a responsibility undertaken for Turkey's future. Yalçıntaş said, "İSKEN will continue to play a critical role in our country's energy supply security. This strategic step is an indication of our future energy investments."
OYAK emphasized that the long-standing partnership with Steag has had significant contributions to the Turkish energy sector, noting that the collaboration between the two companies has been effective in the sharing of knowledge and experience.
With the agreement made in July 2025, the control of İSKEN-Sugözü Power Plant was completely transferred to OYAK. Following this significant step, OYAK Energy Companies Management Board Chairman Yüksel Yılmaz and İSKEN Energy Management Board Chairman Uğur Doğan signed the official documents in Madrid.
Yalçıntaş stated, "The energy sector is a fundamental element for Turkey's economic independence and industrial sustainability. We are focused on creating a long-term value chain that will support environmental and technological transformation while increasing our production capacity. Our goal is to respond to Turkey's increasing energy demand with reliable and environmentally friendly solutions."
