Nomura's Laser Digital is in pursuit of establishing a crypto bank in the U.S.

Laser Digital, the digital assets division of Nomura, has submitted an application for a license to open Laser Digital National Trust Bank in the United States. This application aims to provide digital asset services to institutional clients, pending approval from the OCC (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency).

The proposed bank plans to offer crypto custody, spot trading, and staking services under direct federal regulatory oversight. Laser Digital has joined others in seeking a trust bank charter, including other crypto companies like Ripple and Circle Internet.
