In recent days, the sudden fluctuations in the cryptocurrency markets have caught the attention of Bitcoin investors. According to Arkham data, tens of thousands of Bitcoin have been transferred in the last 24 hours, triggering a panic sell-off, while MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor firmly denied these claims.
Recently, it was revealed that MicroStrategy transferred a total of 43,415 Bitcoin (worth approximately 4.26 billion dollars) to different addresses starting from 00:00 UTC. This situation sparked rumors that the company was selling. However, both Arkham and MicroStrategy reported that these movements were related to transitioning from Coinbase Custody to a new custodian, internal regulations, and wallet upgrades, not sales.
Still, the decline in Bitcoin prices and the decrease in MicroStrategy (MSTR) shares led to the rapid spread of selling rumors on social media. Michael Saylor stated in an interview with CNBC, “We are not selling Bitcoin; on the contrary, we are buying more.” He mentioned that they would announce their next purchases on Monday. Saylor also emphasized on his X account that there is no truth to these rumors.
MicroStrategy holds 641,692 Bitcoin, valued at approximately 22.5 billion dollars. However, the company’s market value has remained below this level. The drop in MSTR's mNAV ratio below 1 has sparked discussions among investors about whether it has become “cheap.” The latest SEC filing indicated that MicroStrategy acquired an additional 487 Bitcoin and is expected to add 6,720 Bitcoin through a new stock issuance, further demonstrating that the selling claims are unfounded.
As of the time this news was prepared, the price of Bitcoin was trading around 96,000 dollars, and MSTR shares had finished the week with a loss of about 4 percent. Despite the decline, Michael Saylor maintained an optimistic outlook, stating, “We have established a strong base here; a reaction upward could come from this.”
