$10 Billion AI Investment from Microsoft!

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has taken a significant step towards AI infrastructure by announcing a $10 billion investment plan at its data center in Sines, Portugal on November 11, 2025. This investment is recorded as one of the largest AI investments in Europe. The company plans to deploy 12,600 next-generation Nvidia GPUs in collaboration with Start Campus, Nscale, and Nvidia to support advanced AI workloads.

Brad Smith, President of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), stated that this initiative will strengthen Europe's AI ecosystem and promote the responsible and scalable development of AI. Additionally, this is highly beneficial for Portugal's strategy to attract data centers powered by green energy, as this strategy utilizes the strategic Atlantic connection to support global digital infrastructure.

Previously, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) had entered into a $9.7 billion agreement with data center operator IREN. This agreement aims to overcome compute capacity constraints in response to the growing demand for AI and fully leverage this demand.

Under the five-year agreement, Dell will supply approximately $5.8 billion worth of Nvidia's GB300 chips and other equipment to IREN. With these chips and equipment, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) aims to expand its computing capacity without the need to build new data centers or secure additional energy infrastructure. These two factors have been the most limiting aspects of the ability to meet AI demand.
