Infrastructure Investments Growing in Romania by Makyol Construction

Makyol Construction plays a significant role in Romania, located on the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) corridors that connect Eastern and Western Europe. The company serves as the main contractor in collaboration with the country's National Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) and the Ministry of Transport, acting as a central hub for logistics flow between Central Europe and the Balkans.

Scope of Projects in Romania

Makyol stands out with seven major projects carried out in cooperation with local and Turkish partners. These projects constitute the most significant infrastructure investments in the country from both engineering and financial perspectives. The projects in the portfolio include:

  • Transylvania Highway (A3),
  • Four phases of the Sibiu-Făgăraș Highway (A13),
  • Ploiești-Buzău Highway (A7),
  • Bucharest Airport Metro Connection.

These projects lay the foundation stones of the main transportation network providing access to the capital of Romania.

Economic Impact of Investments

With a total value of over 3 billion Euros, these projects will include the construction of 128.55 kilometers of highway, 6.6 kilometers of metro, 2.8 kilometers of tunnel, over 150 bridges and viaducts, along with numerous interchanges and stations. More than 3,000 engineers, technicians, and workers will be employed in these projects.

Financing and Consortiums

The infrastructure projects in Romania are supported by various funds from the European Union and the Romanian Government. Makyol establishes consortiums with different Turkish firms for the projects, while also collaborating with EU-based consultancy companies.

CEO Saffet Oğuz Çebi's Assessment

Makyol Construction Romania CEO Saffet Oğuz Çebi stated that they showcase Turkey's engineering power through their projects, saying, “The highway and metro projects we are executing in Romania reflect the reliability and problem-solving capability of Turkish engineering. Our projects contribute to Romania's integration into the EU transportation networks.”

Additionally, Čebi highlighted the collaborations between Turkey and Romania, noting that the total value of 231 projects in the Turkish contracting sector exceeds 15.2 billion dollars. Makyol's portfolio size is also over 3 billion Euros.

Future Goals

Čebi emphasized that the company will continue to undertake critical projects in the integration of European corridors, stating, “Our projects, which overcome challenging environmental conditions and highlight our eco-friendly engineering approach, will accelerate regional development.”
