A trade target of 15 billion dollars has been set with the Gulf Tour.

The Ministry of Commerce announced new trade targets following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to three Gulf countries. This visit is considered an important step towards achieving a trade volume of 15 billion dollars.

President Erdoğan held a series of meetings in Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman from October 21 to 23. During the visit, comprehensive negotiations were held to deepen commercial relations and promote economic cooperation with these three countries. In this context, the Ministry emphasized that the priority is to elevate the collaborations to further levels.

Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat stated that this visit is of great importance both for international trade relations and for closing Turkey’s foreign trade deficit. Additionally, the Gulf region not only serves as a strategic trade point for Turkey but also plays a significant role in the global economy.

Ministry officials regarded the visit as an opportunity, stating that concrete steps have been taken to increase both the current trade volume and potential collaborations. Economic partnerships will be strengthened through connections among specialized firms in the field. It was highlighted that such collaborations would increase trade volume as well as provide foreign currency inflow to Turkey.

Experts argue that trade between Turkey and the Gulf countries should not be limited to goods and services alone, but that strong collaboration should also be developed in technology and energy sectors. In this regard, it is becoming increasingly important for Turkey to engage in strategic planning for the Gulf market to enhance its competitive advantage.

Considering the changing economic balances worldwide, such visits are increasing Turkey’s visibility on the international stage and opening doors to new opportunities.
