Witkoff's meetings will start with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir before he is scheduled to conduct trilateral peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on February 4-5. Following the 12-day conflict that occurred in June 2025, this meeting will be the first encounter between US and Iranian officials. Araghchi, speaking at the tomb of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran, emphasized that Iran is open to diplomacy while stating, "However, diplomacy cannot be reconciled with pressure and intimidation. We hope results will emerge soon," he expressed.
