The Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat emphasized that Turkey's performance in exports and tourism continues to exceed expectations while evaluating the foreign trade data for September and the tourism statistics for the third quarter.
In September, Turkey's export figures reached 22.6 billion dollars, marking an increase of 2.8 percent compared to the same period last year. This represents the highest export figure recorded for the month of September historically. The annualized exports were reported to be 269.7 billion dollars. Despite the weak external demand, rising protectionist policies, and ongoing negative impacts from the war environment, Turkey's resilient structure is behind these figures.
Bolat stressed that this increase is not limited to numbers but also reflects the efforts of exporting companies to enhance their competitiveness in international markets. He stated that export targets are progressing successfully, particularly in increasing trade with developing markets.
On the other hand, Turkey's tourism sector also revealed encouraging data in September. The increase in visitor numbers and revenues indicates that improvements in tourism continue. In this context, the positive figures following the summer season reveal Turkey's potential in the tourism sector. Bolat expressed hope that this momentum in tourism will continue in the upcoming periods.
Considering all these figures, the positive developments in Turkey's trade serve as a significant source of motivation in achieving economic stability and growth targets. In this regard, Minister of Trade Bolat called on companies and investors to support domestic production and emphasized the importance of export-oriented growth.
