American stock index futures are moving upward this morning, and the S&P 500 is expected to open with an approximately 0.1% increase. Following the government shutdown, the Congress has approved a bill to fully reopen the government after a historic closure lasting 43 days. This sudden normalization has pushed 10-year Treasury bond yields to a main interest rate of 4.09%. This means borrowing for families and businesses will become somewhat more expensive.

At the same time, warning signs have begun to emerge in the employment market; private sector employers unexpectedly laid off more than 11,000 workers weekly in October. The big question for investors is whether the slowdown in job growth will prompt the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates before the end of the year, or if stubborn inflation linked to the government shutdown will continue to keep borrowing costs high. This situation has made banks and interest-rate-sensitive sectors like real estate the center of attention, as their profits are largely dependent on future interest rates.

While uncertainties around interest rates and employment persist, keep an eye on the results of key companies like Walt Disney (DIS), JD.com (JD), and Applied Materials (AMAT). Walt Disney is expected to provide clarity on recovery expectations for its streaming and park business by releasing its fourth-quarter results this Thursday.

JD.com will present its closely-watched third-quarter results on Wednesday regarding consumer demand trends in China. Applied Materials will report its fourth-quarter figures amid decreasing global supply chain pressures in the expanding semiconductor sector.

Amid this process, BeOne Medicines (ONC) stands out with a 9.84% increase, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) also rose by 9.00%. AngloGold Ashanti (AU) appreciated by 7.28% due to better-than-expected earnings and production increases. On the other hand, Circle Internet Group (CRCL) lost 12.21%, Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) fell 8.39%, and Nebius Group (NBIS) declined by 7.69%.
