Grayscale has added a staking feature for Ethereum and Solana.

One of the world's largest digital asset managers, Grayscale, stands out as the first company to offer staking on spot crypto investment products traded in the US. It announced the addition of a new staking feature to its Ethereum and Solana funds to provide investors with more opportunities for returns. This update covers the usage of Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE), Ethereum Mini Trust ETF, and Grayscale Solana Trust (GSOL) products that have drawn attention from investors.

The Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF has reached a size of approximately $4.82 billion, while the mini Ethereum fund is valued at $3.31 billion, and the Solana-focused GSOL fund is recorded at $122.5 million. With this new staking feature, investors will have the opportunity to earn rewards from blockchain networks without having to hold their assets directly in wallets.

Staking is a fundamental building block for networks with a proof-of-stake system. Users can lock their funds and help secure the network, earning rewards in return. Grayscale stated that it would manage the staking processes “passively” through institutional custody firms and validator providers. This will not only provide an effective opportunity for investors but also allow them to efficiently assess their assets.

Grayscale's Ethereum-focused funds provide investors with exposure to the price of Ethereum, while the GSOL fund impacts the price of Solana. The application process for GSOL to become a publicly traded product is still ongoing. If approved, it has the potential to earn the title of the first Solana ETP offering staking features.
