The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has made significant changes to the Regulation on the Specifications of Food Additives in the Turkish Food Codex, aiming to enhance food safety. This change has been published in the Official Gazette and has immediately come into effect.
Within the scope of the new regulation, food businesses have been granted a transition period to ensure compliance. Food operators will be obligated to adhere to the provisions of the regulation by March 1, 2026. During this period, they can continue their activities in accordance with the existing regulations.
Products placed on the market before the stated date can continue to be offered to consumers until the end of their shelf life. Therefore, the sale of these products is expected to continue until the end of 2026.
Additionally, some changes have been made to the lists of food additives determined by the regulation. The purpose of these changes is to keep the requirements up to date in order to protect food safety and consumer health.
