A significant step was taken in history as a result of negotiations mediated by Egypt between Israel and Hamas. A consensus was reached on the first phase of the 20-point peace framework proposed by Donald Trump. The negotiation delegations that came together in Cairo signed the agreement and officially announced the enforcement of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Egyptian President Abdelfattah el-Sisi, in a message shared on social media, stated, “After a two-year difficult process, a consensus has been reached on establishing a ceasefire and peace in Gaza. This agreement will not only be limited to ending the conflict but also carries hope for a more just and stable future for the people in the region.”
Following the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will initiate a process requiring approval from the government, primarily starting with the security cabinet. However, Bezalel Smotrich, a far-right minister in Netanyahu's cabinet, announced that he does not accept the agreement. This situation raises concerns about the feasibility of implementing the ceasefire.
Following the approval of the agreement, Hamas will take steps regarding Israeli prisoners on Monday, October 13.
