Sebahattin Arslantürk shared striking data regarding the decline in Turkey's hazelnut exports. In the period from January to October 2025, a total of 206 thousand tons of hazelnuts were exported, generating 1 billion 813 million 830 thousand dollars in revenue. However, these figures reveal a significant regression compared to the same period last year.
The export quantity has decreased by %19, while the revenue in value terms has shown a decline of %12. This drop raises questions regarding the situation in the country's hazelnut sector and the competitive conditions in global markets. Particularly, such a significant decline in a strategic product like hazelnuts concerns both producers and exporters.
Although Turkey is among the leading countries in global hazelnut production, it has been facing difficulties in marketing its products in recent years. Market research indicates that exporters must broaden their target markets and reassess their pricing strategies. Otherwise, it will become quite challenging to increase current export figures.
The hazelnut sector is critical not only for Turkey but also for hazelnut producers worldwide. The increasing competition for quality products among the countries with the highest exports has reached a level that threatens Turkey’s market share. Exporters need to develop innovative approaches to increase their competitiveness and analyze market demands.
In summary, this significant decline in Turkey’s hazelnut exports indicates an important risk not only in economic terms but also regarding agricultural production processes and export strategies. It is crucial for producers and exporters to take these figures into account and implement necessary measures promptly.
