Planet Home, aiming to establish, grow, and scale challenging technology companies, announces a new award worth 1 million dollars, called the Planet Home Prize, to recognize groundbreaking technologies that redefine life, production, transportation, and living in harmony with the planet. This award will be given during the annual Boston Tough Tech Week.
The announcement of the award was made at the Planet Home Gala, held at the Boston Arts Center, where leading voices in science, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and finance came together. During the event, Dr. Maria Galou-Lameyer, General Manager of Merck and a member of two Nobel Prize-winning teams, announced the award. Emphasizing the goal of advancing global sustainability and health through innovations, Dr. Daniel Doneson stated, "We are not only recognizing innovative technologies but also launching a movement to build the future."
Creative performances at the intersection of science, technology, and art were showcased, along with high-level discussions. Speaking about sustainable innovations pursued by the SIDS countries, Walter Roban and Dr. Albert Binger highlighted the islands' leadership in marine conservation and renewable energy.
In a panel discussing the ethical boundaries of artificial intelligence, De Kai said, "Each of our phones has over 100 artificial intelligences. These are like wild children deprived of parenting and are the largest stakeholders in the world."
Applications for the award will begin on February 15, 2026, and details will be shared at PlanetHome.eco. The event was held in collaboration with Factory Berlin and Zehnder Group North America. Innovative companies nominated for the award include Seabased, Malstrom Molecules, and DataEnergy.
DataEnergy stands out with its modular data center design powered entirely by renewable hydroelectric energy. Malstrom Molecules aims to produce circular molecules to replace components derived from petroleum in plastic production. Seabased offers sustainable energy solutions by harnessing the power of ocean waves.
