Ethereum Usage Rate Tripled Bitcoin's

Recent data that has emerged in the cryptocurrency market shows that Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are evolving in different directions. According to research published by Glassnode analysts, Bitcoin is functioning almost entirely as a store of value, while Ethereum has transitioned into an active asset with a higher usage rate.

The "Store-of-Value Utility" report prepared by Glassnode in partnership with Keyrock compares the two assets based on their usage intensity. It has been determined that more than 61% of Bitcoin's supply has not moved for a year, and the daily turnover rate on the chain is only 0.61%. This situation supports the perception of Bitcoin as a store of value similar to gold.

On the other hand, long-term investors in Ethereum are moving their old crypto assets three times faster than Bitcoin investors. This indicates that Ethereum is being used not only as a reserve asset but also as collateral in the operation of the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.

Another significant point highlighted by analysts is the gradual outflow of supply from exchanges for both assets. In recent days, approximately 1.5% of Bitcoin's supply and 18% of Ethereum's supply have moved to ETFs and institutional custody solutions. This indicates both an increase in institutional demand and that users are developing long-term management strategies for their assets.

Bitcoin's settling into a stagnant structure and Ethereum's higher activity deepens the divergence between the roles of the two assets in their ecosystems. In the forthcoming period, Ethereum's active structure and its connection to DeFi are expected to gain more importance in the cryptocurrency market. In this case, it becomes crucial for investors to develop their strategies by considering the increase in Ethereum's usage rate and Bitcoin's store of value feature.
