The Turkish Pensioners Association (TÜED) has requested a lump sum increase, considering the difficulties faced by retirees. The board of presidents of the association discussed important issues related to the economic difficulties of retirees during a meeting held in Ankara.

In this context, TÜED emphasized that it is unacceptable for retirement pensions to remain below the poverty line. They highlighted the need to raise the living standards of retirees. According to announced data, the purchasing power of retirees has been eroding day by day, placing them in an increasingly difficult situation under market conditions.

The board of presidents of TÜED pointed out that, if a lump sum increase is not made, retirees will face even greater hardship, stating that this situation creates social injustice. Examples were presented showing that retirees are struggling to meet their basic needs and are increasingly experiencing difficulties in making ends meet.

During the discussions at this meeting, it was expressed that retirement pensions should be increased to the level of the minimum wage. It was emphasized that retirees are an important part of society and that the public should stand by them. It was noted that increasing assistance to retirees is necessary from a social policy perspective.

As a result, TÜED is calling for government officials to take more effective steps to support retirees. The association expressed that more measures are needed in the face of the economic crisis and inflation, aiming to draw public attention to this issue. Improving the welfare level of retirees will also have a positive impact on the quality of life of their families.
