The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the inflation data for October 2023 today. The inflation rate recorded on a monthly basis reached 2.55 percent, while the annual inflation rate rose to 32.87 percent. These figures are of great importance for determining the 4-month compensation difference for civil servants and retirees.
Millions of civil servants and retirees were eagerly awaiting the announced inflation figures. As of October, the inflation difference to be granted to retirees is now clear. Accordingly, the inflation difference to be given to SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees will be 10.25 percent; civil servants will receive a 5 percent increase. This rate is also an important criterion that affects the increases in civil servant and retiree salaries until the first half of 2026.
The inflation figures announced in October played a critical role in determining the four-month inflation difference. Together with the inflation data for November and December, the total increase rate to be reflected in salaries over the 4-month period will be finalized. This situation has become a major topic of interest for civil servants and retirees.
In January, the final increase rates will be announced, thus clarifying the total increases that civil servants and retirees will receive for the first 6 months of 2026. The trend of the inflation figures for November and December will directly affect the increases to be made in salaries in the upcoming period. Therefore, retirees and civil servants will closely monitor the data to be announced in the coming months.
