Today, more than 138 million children globally are deprived of the right to experience a safe and protected childhood. 61% of the child labor issue occurs in the agriculture sector. Millions of children are forced to work for long hours under hazardous conditions in various areas of agriculture, instead of learning and dreaming.
The 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labor, to be held in Morocco in December 2023, aims to accelerate global action to end all forms of child labor. This conference will take place from February 11-13.
Led by the International Labour Organization (ILO), this conference will bring together governments, financial institutions, civil society, and private sector representatives to call for collective action and the dissemination of effective solutions.
The United Nations FAO has reported that child labor is observed in the agriculture sector, with 85 million children working long hours and in hazardous conditions in crop production, livestock, forestry, fishing, or aquaculture.
