Decrease in Hotel Occupancy Rates in the 2024-2025 Period

Although there has been an increase in the number of overnight stays in accommodation facilities with business and simple documentation in our country, a significant decline in hotel occupancy rates was observed in December 2024 and the January-December 2025 period.

According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the hotel occupancy rate in December 2024 was at %32.44, while this rate dropped to %31.02 in December 2025.

The total number of overnight stays in December 2024 was recorded as 8,829,341, while the total number of overnight stays from January to December 2024 was determined to be 216,017,715. In December 2025, the number of overnight stays was recorded as 12,272,844, and the total from January to December was 252,323,483.

The Peak Period Was in 2019

Over the past nine years, notable fluctuations have occurred in December occupancy rates. The highest occupancy rate was recorded at %38 in 2019, while the lowest level occurred in 2020 due to the pandemic, at %14.5.

Stable Trend in the Last Three Years

When examining December data over the last three years, it was observed that occupancy rates have remained at %31.9 in 2023, %32.4 in 2024, and %31.0 in 2025. These data indicate that hotel occupancy rates in December have been confined within the %31-32 range for the past three years.
