Doğuş Otomotiv (DOAS) CEO Ali Bilaloğlu made significant statements regarding the uncertainties about bringing the Polo model to Turkey. He expressed that the new customs applications have deeply affected car prices, and pointed out that the price of the Polo model nearing that of the Golf model could negatively impact the decision to bring this vehicle to Turkey.
Bilaloğlu drew attention to the rapidly increasing market share of electric vehicles, emphasizing that the company has nearly increased electric vehicle sales by %950 compared to 2023. He stated that this rate will further rise in the coming years, and they will bring more electric vehicles to Turkey.
Ali Bilaloğlu noted that the European Union's carbon emission restrictions on automotive companies have impacted product supply in Turkey. He explained that, in accordance with EU laws, automotive firms must keep their annual fleet sales below certain levels, making it inevitable for factories to direct their electric vehicles to the European market.
Bilaloğlu stated that the new customs applications have disrupted price balance and created issues in small segment models. He mentioned that various factors such as customs procedures and tax structures affect prices, and announced that solutions are being sought to ensure consumers do not miss out on these vehicles.
Bilaloğlu also touched on Doğuş Otomotiv's business relations with Volkswagen, mentioning that a distribution offer has been received for Azerbaijan and Iraq. He expressed that feasibility studies are being conducted for these markets and they will enter the retail sector by collaborating with local partners.
