10% of charter flights should be open to individual tourists.

Candidate for the Presidency of TÜRSAB Regional Representation Board Özgüven made a striking proposal to increase the tourism potential in Antalya. Özgüven stated that at least 10% of charter flights should be made available to individual tourists 6 months in advance. He expressed his belief that this approach would significantly contribute to local tourism.

Currently, tourism in Antalya is generally limited to 5-star hotels. This situation is causing us to fall short of the tourism potential. Özgüven emphasized that necessary steps should be taken to allow individual tourists to benefit from charter flights, thus providing a significant boost to both the local economy and the tourism sector.

“The ability for local and foreign tourists to directly utilize charter flights will enhance the appeal of Antalya and increase the demand for hotels in the region,” said Özgüven, noting that this strategy could play an important role in creating a sustainable tourism model. This way, it is aimed for Antalya to have an uninterrupted flow of tourism throughout the 12 months.

Often, charter flights are only filled by travel agencies and remain closed to individual tourists. Özgüven's proposal has the potential to change this situation. Enabling individual tourists to benefit from charter flights can increase both flight occupancy rates and tourism revenues.

Özgüven also emphasized that if this change can be implemented, the international competitiveness of Antalya will increase. Thus, encouraging more tourists to visit the region will not only affect hotel occupancy rates positively but also provide beneficial impacts on local businesses.
