Attending the Siirt Economy Summit held at Siirt University Faculty of Architecture and Engineering, Cevdet Yılmaz stated that strict monetary policies and disciplined fiscal policies will continue. Yılmaz emphasized that these approaches are the foundation of economic stability.
Yılmaz noted that agriculture and livestock are critical sectors for the region and expressed that these sectors need to be made more efficient with modern methods. He mentioned that the production of Siirt pistachios has exceeded 27 thousand tons and supports the livelihoods of thousands of families, stating, "It is essential to further develop agricultural production."
Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the Garzan Irrigation Project holds great economic significance. He emphasized that the phases of the project are ongoing and that these projects will contribute to the fight against inflation. Yılmaz remarked, "In May 2024, inflation was at 75.5%, now it has dropped to 30.6%. This is not enough; it must decrease further."
Yılmaz listed 5 critical areas they have identified in the fight against inflation: food, social housing, energy, logistics, and human resources. He expressed his belief that supply-side policies will have a significant impact in these areas.
In this context, Yılmaz emphasized that they prioritize irrigation projects, saying, "Instead of focusing on all phases of projects simultaneously, we should concentrate on the projects that are at the completion stage."
