Significant Outflows in BTC and ETH ETFs

Recently, Bitcoin and Ethereum spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. experienced a total net outflow of $800 million due to heavy selling by institutional investors. This situation has raised concerns among investors, while Solana (SOL) ETFs continue to maintain their positive inflows.

Outflows in Bitcoin and Ethereum

According to SoSoValue data, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of $577.74 million. This marks the highest single-day outflow since August 1. A total of $356.6 million was withdrawn from Fidelity's FBTC fund, $128 million from Ark & 21Shares' ARKB fund, and $48.9 million from Grayscale's GBTC fund. In total, seven Bitcoin funds reported negative flows recently, contributing to a continued five-day outflow streak for these ETFs.

Changes in Ethereum ETFs

A similar situation was observed in spot Ethereum ETFs, which saw a net outflow of $219.37 million. The BlackRock ETHA fund experienced an outflow of $111 million, while Grayscale and Fidelity's funds also reported similar outflows.

Positive Inflows in Solana ETFs

On the other hand, the recently launched Solana ETFs recorded a net inflow of $14.83 million despite a slight decline. This continues the positive inflow streak of SOL ETFs since October 28. Vincent Liu, Chief Investment Officer at Kronos Research, characterized Solana's strong performance as “fresh flows meeting a fresh narrative,” noting that despite losses amid macro chaos, Solana's ‘speed and resilience’ have been effective.

Signs of Change in Institutional Investments

Rachael Lucas, a crypto analyst at BTC Markets, stated that the consecutive five days of outflows indicate a significant change in institutional positioning. Lucas emphasized that this process is not merely a pause but also a signal of rebalancing.
