The number of investors in Borsa Istanbul has decreased, while the increase in millionaires continues.

Decrease in Investor Numbers, Increase in Millionaires

According to the data from the Central Registry Agency (MKK), the number of equity investors in Borsa Istanbul decreased by 6.4% compared to the end of last year, reaching 6,431,980 as of November 2023.

During this period, the total portfolio value of investors increased from 5,711,806,000,000 liras to 7,283,680,000,000 liras, showing a remarkable rise.

The number of investors with a portfolio over one million liras, classified as “millionaires,” rose from 239,742 at the end of last year to 295,343, marking a 23.2% increase. Thus, 55,601 new millionaire investors joined Borsa Istanbul.

Significant Increase in the 1-5 Million Lira Group

The portfolio segments tracked for investors are classified as 1-5 million liras, 5-10 million liras, and over 10 million liras. As of November 2023, the number in the 1-5 million lira group rose by 22%, reaching 240,879, while the total portfolio value increased by 24.4% to 490,955,000,000 liras.

In the same period, the number of investors in the 5-10 million lira group increased by 30.2% to 28,836. This group increased its portfolio value by 30.8%, reaching 198,867,000,000 liras.

Impact of Investors with Over 10 Million Liras

The number of investors with portfolios exceeding 10 million liras reached 25,628, marking a 27.3% increase. The portfolio value of this group rose by 30.7%, reaching 6,162,966,000,000 liras.

Increase in Millionaire Investors in the Fund Market

As of November 2023, the number of investors with portfolios over one million liras in the “Fund” areas reached 559,397, with a total portfolio of 7,818,135,000,000 liras, constituting 95.7% of the fund market.

Additionally, in the Domestic Debt Securities market, there are 17,504 millionaire investors, with a total portfolio value of 2,065,244,000,000 liras, indicating a total control rate of 99.9% in the market.
