The number of investors on Borsa Istanbul has decreased, while the increase in millionaires continues.

Decrease in Investor Numbers, Increase in Millionaire Count

According to the data from the Central Registry Agency (MKK), the number of equity investors in Borsa Istanbul decreased by 6.4% compared to the end of last year, reaching 6,431,980 as of November 2023.

During this period, the total portfolio value of investors increased significantly from 5,711,806,000,000 lira to 7,283,680,000,000 lira.

The number of "millionaire" investors with portfolios over one million lira increased by 23.2% from 239,742 at the end of last year to 295,343 as of November this year. Thus, 55,601 new millionaire investors joined Borsa Istanbul.

Significant Increase in the 1-5 Million Lira Group

The portfolio segments followed by investors are classified as 1-5 million lira, 5-10 million lira, and over 10 million lira. As of November 2023, the number in the 1-5 million lira group increased to 240,879 with a rise of 22%, and the total portfolio value reached 490,955,000,000 lira with a 24.4% increase.

During the same period, the number of investors in the 5-10 million lira group increased by 30.2% to 28,836. This group increased its portfolio value by 30.8% to 198,867,000,000 lira.

Impact of Investors Over 10 Million Lira

The number of investors with portfolios over 10 million lira reached 25,628, marking a 27.3% increase. The portfolio value of this group rose by 30.7% to 6,162,966,000,000 lira.

Increase in Millionaire Investors in the Fund Market

As of November 2023, the total portfolio of 559,397 investors in the “Fund” sectors who have portfolios over one million lira reached 7,818,135,000,000 lira, constituting 95.7% of the fund market.

Additionally, in the Government Domestic Borrowing Instruments market, there were 17,504 millionaire investors, with a total portfolio value of 2,065,244,000,000 lira, indicating that the total control rate in the market is 99.9%.
