Borsa İstanbul Started the Day Calmly

While expectations for interest rate cuts in the US continue in global markets, the cautious stance of investors is creating a mixed picture in Borsa İstanbul. At the beginning of the week, the BIST 100 index gained about 2 percent with a strong wave of buying, and although it showed a positive trend on Tuesday, it could not maintain this momentum.

Volatile Course and Selling Pressure

On Wednesday, the index pulled back by 0.78 percent due to increased selling pressure, and on Thursday, it lost 1.07 percent in value, dropping below the critical 11,000 points threshold. Analysts evaluate this negative trend, closely monitored by investors, in light of market dynamics and international developments.

BIST 100 Index and Sector Performances

Today, the BIST 100 index reached 10,923.58 points with a nearly horizontal increase at the opening, showing an increase of 5.06 points (0.05 percent) compared to the previous close. The banking index fell by 0.12 percent, while the holding index rose by 0.18 percent. Among sector indices, the most rising sector was mining, with an increase of 1.64 percent. On the other hand, the most declining sector was financial leasing and factoring, which lost 0.70 percent.

Market Observations and Expectations

Analysts state that during the day, they will monitor the treasury cash balance domestically, as well as growth data from the Eurozone abroad, along with personal consumption expenditures and the consumer confidence index data from the University of Michigan in the US. Technically, the support levels for the BIST 100 index are around 10,900 and 10,800, while resistance levels are highlighted at 11,000 and 11,100 points.
