Borsa İstanbul's Growth Targets

Korkmaz Ergun, General Manager of Borsa İstanbul AŞ, participated in the 5th Future of Finance Summit, which brought together key participants from banking, capital markets, insurance, participation finance, development finance, and non-banking finance sectors. Ergun emphasized that Borsa İstanbul provides a critical financing ecosystem for the sustainable growth of our country during his speech at the summit.

Increase in the Number of Companies Listed

Ergun stated that approximately 200 new companies have started trading on the exchange in the last 5 years. With these developments, the number of companies listed on the exchange has approached 600, highlighting the growth dynamics of the market. He also noted that the total trading volume of these newly listed companies accounted for a quarter of the exchange's overall trading volume.

Developing Trading Volumes

Korkmaz Ergun pointed out that the average daily trading volume has increased from 25 billion lira to 200 billion lira. These figures demonstrate the increased liquidity and investor attraction capabilities of Borsa İstanbul. He also emphasized that nearly 8,300 debt instruments are traded on the exchange, facilitating access to various investment instruments for investors.

Technology and Innovation Investments

In recent years, significant investments have been made in information technology infrastructure to keep pace with changes in the global financial world and to provide a competitive market, Ergun stated. He noted that the capacity for order volume has increased 8 times, the capacity for transaction volume has increased 7 times, and the speed of order transmission has increased 4 times. In this context, Borsa İstanbul's data center has been expanded, and alternative connection opportunities suitable for different needs have been provided.

Future Vision and Awards

Ergun expressed that preparations for shortening the settlement period from T-2 to T-1 are progressing on schedule. He also mentioned that technology sales have been made to other exchanges worldwide. He added that this year, winning the technology achievement award from the World Federation of Exchanges has allowed Borsa İstanbul to gain recognition in the international arena.
