Belarus President Signals Shift Towards Cryptocurrencies

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expressed that the global dependence on the dollar is rapidly decreasing and that cryptocurrencies could offer an alternative in this process. Lukashenko emphasized that the shift in the balance of power in the global economy requires his country to adapt to this new era.

The President pointed out that the world order is increasingly moving away from the dollar-centric system, noting that cryptocurrencies could play an important role in this transformation. He also mentioned that cryptocurrency mining is a strategic area for Belarus and that the country's high electricity production capacity provides an advantage in this field.

Lukashenko acknowledged that income may fluctuate from time to time, but he does not see this as a source of concern and stated that the long-term strategy is solid. In recent years, Belarus has implemented policies to support cryptocurrency mining in order to make use of its excess electricity. This situation, along with Lukashenko's statements, is interpreted as a sign that Belarus will continue its energy-focused usage strategy.

Especially low-cost energy sources are positioning Belarus competitively in regional mining activities.
